This module in our 500-hour yoga teacher training core curriculum is also open to all teachers! We will explore the principles of assists and adjustments in two separate weekends. This is the second part of this exploration.
Have you ever received a physical adjustment so perfect, it felt like it shifted your being in lasting obvious and subtle ways? Have you ever received an assist that left you feeling maladjusted?
A great physical adjustment is a honed skill and refined art. If we practice offering them with solid alignment understanding and a wide knowledge of the various different body types and their specific needs, then our physical adjustments can be most effective and heart-opening. We’ll learn adjustments for asanas in the various classes of poses, key alignment techniques for the different classes, how to differentiate acute pain from the development of musculo- skeletal strength and stability, and when to apply more refined alignment and adjustment, versus when to avoid the pose.
Part 2 will cover assists for hip openers, twists, forward folds, inversions, and restorative poses.
Saturday, 11:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Saturday's class begins with a 1.5 hr vinyasa practice.
